Coordinators:
Sue Goldsworthy and Lorraine JonesPurpose is TO HAVE FUN, Challenge our creativity and encourage group cooperation. Based on a Standard Deck of Playing Cards including: 4 Suits, Diamonds, Hearts, Spades and Clubs, plus 2 Jokers. Thirteen cards make up each suit: Ace, King, Queen, Jack and 10 - 2. Rules: 1. The finished quilt size MUST be 18 inches by 22 inches 2. The finished quilt size MUST be 18 inches by 22 inches 3. The finished quilt size MUST be 18 inches by 22 inches AND RULE 4: Each entry will receive a "52 Pickup" label which must be attached to the back of the quilt. Due Date: April 17th, BZB general meeting. ![]() All participants will randomly draw a card at the meetings. If there are additional people who want to join in after this meeting, we will draw the card for them, and notify them of their card. We will use additional decks once all cards from the first deck have been assigned. Each person drawing a card will need to sign the list so we know who has what card. There will be special ribbons awarded at the Challenge Party in April at the regular BZB meeting. Participants can work together to complete a poker hand. So find the people with cards to complete a hand for a special category ribbon. Starting at the Nov. meeting we will have a list of who has what card. Group Categories: 1. Royal Flush - ace, king, queen, jack, and 10, all the same suit. 2. Straight Flush - five cards of the same suit in sequence 3. Four of a Kind - four cards of equal rank. 4. Full House - Three cards of equal rank and two different cards of equal rank (3 Aces, and 2 sixes). 5. Straight - straight five cards in sequence, not necessarily of the same suit. 6. Three of a Kind - Three cards of equal rank, (example 3 queens, or 3 fives). 7. Two Pair - Two cards of equal rank, and two different cards of equal rank, (example; 2 aces and 2 fours) 8. Pair - Two cards of equal rank 9. High Card - a hand containing no pair is determined by the highest ranking card in the hand. (Ace is high, twos are low.) Individual Categories: 1. Most like a playing card (would include the back of the quilt) 2. Most "creative" interpretation of the playing card 3. Best representation of the suit 4. Best representation of the rank All winners of additional categories will be determined by the
Challenge Committee and ribbons provided at the Preview Party night
of the Quilt Show. The normal Challenge ribbons would be completed
in the normal manner, and those ribbons would be awarded at the
ribbon ceremony after the quilt show.
