NEW MEMBER INFO

Welcome from the Busy Bee Quilters
Executive Board!
Sometimes as a
new member in an organization, it's easy to feel "lost". And if
you're totally new to quilting, the feeling can be overwhelming, because
not only are you being orientated to a whole new group of friends, you
also might be feeling inundated with a whole new "language" and
terminology! Often times, we forget that everyone might not know
what we're talking about!
We hope this page might help you in that regard and we hope that you
will "jump right in". and get involved with us. There are
many opportunities in Busy
Bee's, for fun experiences in the art of quilting and for making long
lasting friendships.
Quilt Show
The
Busy Bee Quilt Show is an annual event. It
is a huge endeavor and we ask the involvement of every Busy Bee member.
Many of the jobs to make the Quilt Show a success are easy to do, and do
not take too much of our precious quilting time. Sometimes new members
struggle with getting to know other members, but the best way to bond
with people is to volunteer with them. The show provides many fun
opportunities for us to develop friendships. It is also a great
way for members to display their finished quilts. This show is
opened to the public for viewing.
Retreats and Day Camps
Busy
Bees have two
retreats a year, in the fall and in the winter.
And there are two Day Camps a year, in the
fall and in the spring.
Retreats and Day Camps are open to Club Members in good standing.
Point Award
Program

Points are awarded for being involved in
several different types of activities in the Busy Bee Quilters
membership. These points are accumulated, and after earning a set number
of points, you can have a group quilt made. You provide the
material and pattern, and the members will take the fabric home and
piece together the blocks for you. When all the blocks are returned,
it's up to you to put the quilt top together. Then the group will help
you baste and hand quilt your group quilt.
Some of the ways to earn points are:
Attend monthly General Meetings
Wear your name tag at General Meetings, Serve on an
Executive Committee or Standing Committee
Contribute Doll quilts and/or Gracie quilts,
Sell raffle tickets for our Busy Bee
Raffle Quilt (A group cooperative effort),
Basting of a group quilt or raffle quilt, Hand quilting of a group quilt
or raffle quilt, Construction of quilt blocks for group or raffle
quilts, volunteer your time at the Quilt Show.
For more
detailed information about the Point Award Program, please refer to the
current Busy Bee Quilters' Handbook.
Challenge Quilt
This is an fun
opportunity to use your creativity to design a quilt following rules set
by the Challenge Quilt Committee. We do a "challenge"
once a year and there is a ribbon category in our annual quilt show for
the submitted challenge projects.
